Seaway Valley Divers 14th Annual Pig Roast

We will be hosting our 14th annual Pig Roast on Saturday July 6th, 2024.

We will be offering you an opportunity to visit the Powerhouse.  The Mille Roches Powerhouse is located in Lake St. Lawrence, West of Cornwall.  The Mille Roches Powerhouse was built for the St. Lawrence Power Company. It was located close to the Cornwall Canal at Milles Roches and could generate up to 3,000 horsepower. Work began in the fall of 1900 and it was opened October 24, 1901. While the ownership changed hands several times, the plant stayed in operation until 1955 when it ceased to generate power. With the new Powerdam and Seaway nearing completion, a huge crane and ball were brought in and the building (brickwork) demolished in preparation of the inundation. The generators were removed, but two water turbines remain intact.

This is a great dive with plenty to see, but please remember to bring a light to see into the arched water release pit. Expect a 1 to 2 knot current (only during the descent and ascent). Once you enter from buoy, you arrive first at the intake gates, from there descend to the power house floor and wheel pit, the upperwork lies at 35 feet with the power house at 55 feet and tailrace at 75 feet.

As in past years, we will offer a delicious meal, and have made arrangements to camp at the Boy Scout/Cadets camp.  This year the meal will be TBD per person (children under 13 free), camping is TBD per person per night, diving for members will be TBD for a one tank dive, TBD for a two-tank dive and non-members will be TBD for a one tank dive and TBD for a two-tank dive.  As in the past we will provide a shuttle service to the boat who will be buoyed to the Power House.
