Seaway Valley Divers has organized a group tour of the

St. Lawrence Visitor Centre at Eisenhower Locks (newly renovated)

1 Barnhart Island Rd. Massena, NY

--Monday, June 3rd 2024 starting at 4 PM—

As residents of Eastern Ontario, we’ve all seen large ships navigating up and down the river. They sail here from all over the world destined for ports on the St Lawrence River or anywhere on the Great Lakes. Every ship must “lock through” in order to be raised upstream (west) or lowered when they head downstream (east, back to sea).

As divers, many have experienced a vessel going over top or near us while underwater. Their engines can be heard from a great distance as they approach and pass us, and depending on their proximity can create a back and forth surge underwater.

During the 1.5 to 2 hour guided tour, we were told there was a good chance that a ship will be “Locking Through” the 38 foot height as it is a very busy time of the year. Admission is Free but we ask you to please register with Kyle at O2toGo Dive Shop beforehand. You will be crossing the border so remember your Passport, guests are also responsible for their own transportation.

Thanks and see you then.
